Product Review: Mavala Scientifique Nail Hardener

This week I am starting a new TAG on the blog: Review! On this TAG, I am going to talk about products (makeup, skincare, accessories, house care, etc) that I used and if they worked or not for me. The opinions are all my own ;-).

The first product I am going to talk about is the Mavala Scientifique Nail Hardener.

I never had strong nails. They were always thin and only grew to a certain point, before breaking. Suddenly, at the end of last year, it got way worst. It felt like as if my nails were disintegrating! They were extremely frail, brittle, flaky… you get the picture. Even after I stopped wearing nail polishes, it did not make any difference.

I went to my dermatologist and, after some exams (that returned nothing), he started to try different things to see what could make them get better. I tried so many things, and nothing seemed to work. Until he suggested this: the Mavala Scientifique Nail Hardener. Suddenly, everything came back to normal! I cannot describe how much I love this product!

It is a blue liquid product and it is not oily. It feels more like a face tonic (consistency wise). You should apply twice a week on your bare nails, only at the tips. I must confess I apply every day, sometimes more than once (I was that desperate)! My nails are stronger and longer than they ever were.

The result is not overnight. You have to have a lot of patience, but I could see results after the first week of constant applying it.

You have to be careful only to put cream on your cuticles before applying because they get hardener as well.

One other thing that makes me really happy is that now, I can wear nail polishes again! I go to the salon do my nails once a week, so I take off the nail polish one-two days before, and apply the product. This way I have been able to still get my nails done and keeping them healthy. If I feel they are a bit weak, I skip the week's appointment and go nail polish free.

It is more on the expensive side of the spectrum, but a tiny little bit goes a long way. I’ve been using for about six months now and have not reached the beginning of the label on the bottle.
